Did you know--not all stress is bad. Stress actually helps to motivate you to get things done and my sometimes even improve your performance. However, chronic stress or stress that makes you feel overwhelmed or out of control can lead to serious consequences to your mental and physical health.
What are the signs?
Trouble sleeping or over sleeping
Feelings of overwhelm and hopelessness
Tension--tense muscles and/or tension headaches
Difficulty concentrating and/or making decisions
Changes in eating--over eating or lack of appetite
Fear and/or anxiety--rumination, excessive worrying, or fear of the future
Irritability and/or anger--snapping at others, jumping to conclusions, road rage
How to cope?
Know the signs of stress
Self-care--get adequate sleep, take time to rest, eat healthy, give yourself a spa day, book a Reiki treatment.
Take time to relax--deep breathing, meditation, positive affirmations, journaling, book a massage
Exercise--walk, stretch, yoga, tai chi, running, cycling, weight training, personal trainer
Relieve stress--listen to music, read a book, listen to a podcast, take a long bath/shower, spend time in nature or with a pet, talk with family/friends you trust and who provide positive support, watch a funny movie/tv show, talk to a doctor and/or therapist, join a support group
Set healthy boundaries--stop saying yes to everything/everyone, prioritize, delegate, ask for help
